Went geocaching this past weekend...actually for the past 3 weekends. Loved every minute of it, even with the nasty spider webs and humid heat (to my West Coast Friends: yes, heat can be wet).
We didn't find what we were in search of; but we did find some unexpected things along our journey. One find was this tree. Out in the middle of this forest, this tree very simply stood out from the rest of its neighbors. The other find was something that in reality found us. By the time my inspection was completed, 12 ticks had started to find my highly coveted blood supply.
This has given me a thought about the many things we find along the path we travel in search for our predetermined hunt. Some times the find unfortunately tries to suck the life out of you (sometimes quite literally). But at other times, the find is right there in front of you just waiting for you to take notice. The find is waiting for you to stop, to look, to listen, to care.
For a moment, turn off your GPS that is directing you to your final destination. Stop where you are currently at in your journey. There is something here that God wants you, me, us to experience. God doesn't put his creation (whether it be a person or a tree) around us just to fill up space. God puts them there for a reason. Really seeing something for the first time...really seeing something that has been in front of you all this time...now that is a true find!
