Doctors, TV, and Conversations...

Well, I went to the ENT up in St. Louis this past Thursday and didn't really find much out in regards to the problems with my tongue. I go back up there on Tuesday morning for another MRI test and I believe an appointment with a nuerologist that same day.

The best diagnosis I have heard so far is that the problems I am now experiencing with my tongue could very well be a delayed effect from my radiation treatments I underwent back in 1999. If this is true, then unfortunately, there are implications of my problems having a long-lasting presence. We'll see what Tuesday tells us.

Up until this past year, I kinda gave up TV..besides for Alias, that is. This summer, though, I have found a new way of watching TV shows I have always heard about but too cheap to buy TIVO and record. Luckily, I have friends who buys many of the shows on DVD and I just borrow & watch them. So far this summer, I have watched the first two seasons of The West Wing and am currently working through the first season of 24.

My final random thought for this evening is more of a reflection of these past couple weeks. Despite the fact of my tongue hindering my speaking capabilities, I have had a plethora of thought-provoking conversations. From the dysfunction of community in the local church to the difference between temporary, delayed, & instant healing, my head has just been swimming in some great, challenging, & convicting conversations.

I leave with a quote from the late, genius comedian, Mitch Hedberg:

"You know they call corn on the cob, corn on the cob, but that's how it comes out of the ground, man. They should call that corn, they should call every other version corn off the cob. It's not like if you cut off my arm you would call it Mitch. Then reattach it and call me Mitch-all-together..."
