It will soon be the 2nd summer for me back here in Southern Illinois. Chalk it up to my sinuses or up to allergies; but my body has not liked the transition from Spring to Summer last year and this year as well. For the past week, I have felt like...I think the Biblical term is...crap. I told my pessimistic mother that if I do not feel better by Tuesday, I would make an appointment with my doctor. I still might. We shall see.
Today, I had a renewed sense of energy slowing welling up inside my body. This morning at the Vineyard is where I first sensed it. I saw some great friends; and I truly think friendship has a healing ability to it. After church and lunch, my twin sister and I drove down to Bald Knob Cross for a wedding of a good friend from High School. Once more, I was surrounded with friends…some I had not seen in years…and my spirit was overfilled with joy & laughter.
The following thought is one I know I have shared with some of you numerous times; but here it is again. Howard Hughes, who was at one time the richest (financial wealth) man in the world to the tune of 4 billion dollars is reported to had said, “I’d give it all for one good friend.” Sadly, Hughes may have been the richest (financial wealth) man at the time of his death; but truly, he was one of the poorest.
Days like today have reminded me that I’m truly a rich man.

I couldn't agree with you more. In this area, I indeed do feel rich, blessed, and fortunate. I also think that the quality of the people with whom you associate yourself adds to the richness. I can have a large humidor of fine cigars (so wonderful), or I can have a large one full of cubans (bliss!).
