Do you see the real me?

“God hath given you one face, and you make yourselves another.” --William Shakespeare

Are you saying you think God made us who we are, and for the most part people try to change that? I am not sure if I agree with that. I think God gave us the free will to be who ever we want to be. We can choose poorly and pay the consequences but I still think God lets us choose who and what we are... right?

CRICKET, I am saying that God created his masterpiece (Ephesians 2) with an idea of what he wanted it to look like.

He then offers us the freedom to add our contributions to the creation; but with sin contaminating the paint and if left on our own, we are guaranteed to make a mess of things. The first thing we do when we mess things up is that we hide. We learned that from our forefather, Adam. After awhile, we even forget who/what we are hiding from…and begin to believe the mask that we wear and the counterfeit life we live is the one we were created for. So very far from the truth!

The quest of the Christian Life is rediscovering who we were created to be (Philippians 1); and playing a contributing role in becoming the person God created me to be.

Repentance, in its true, original meaning, was not so much in turning away from but more like returning to what we were designed to be.

No doubt, God lets us choose; but that does not take away the fact that He is there right beside us hoping we will choose wisely…that we will choose truth, beauty, passion, purpose, and good.
